What is an LED Light
Technically and LED light is known as a light emitting diode, so isn't actually a bulb in the traditional sense of the word, it doesn't contain a filament like the old style incandescent bulbs, in fact LEDs are electrical switches that emit light when electrons recombine with holes in the diode, thus releasing photons that glow brightly.

Furthermore, because they don't rely on thin filaments of tungsten that can snap, or gases like flourescent tubes, they last a lot longer, typically 100,000 hours and are DC, making them very convenient for battery operation or portable use, yet can be connected to an inverter very easily for AC use.
